In Mawasunda, Taito has brought us a new spin on the mini-game genre, literally. The title manages to mix a number of classic Taito games and characters in with a wealth of other challenges covering the broad genres of technique, power and brain, and it's all going around in circles.
The concept of this type of game will be familiar to a large number of Nintendo handheld owners. The great WarioWare series is a prime example of how to pull off five seconds of furious mayhem with style. Taito haven't fared quite so well with this effort. There's little sense of urgency in any of the twenty-five slices of mini-madness, and this can prompt a feeling of "why bother?". There's no speeding up, and the time limits are on the massive side of generous; this does at least make it forgiving and approachable.
